Potluck Dinner: Once again there was a crowd of over 50 people who attended the Potluck Dinner on July 16, 2016. Everyone enjoyed a wide range of delicious food, a fun Chinese Auction, selection of the top boats from the Boat Parade held on July 3 and the voting for pictures to be included in our 2017 Franklin Lake Pierce calendar. Cell Tower Update: The Art Kaufman led effort to appeal the decsion by The Town Of Antrim ZBA to permit Industrial Tower and Wireless to construct a cell tower was successful. On June 9, 2016 the Superior Court ruling stated that the ZBA did not allow regional and other municipalities to provide an impact statement and they will have to reopen the discussion. As his Eagle Scout project, Zachary Rioux has completed the Bulletin Board at Manahan Park boat launch and it exceeds the Board's expectations. One side contains 2 maps of the lake under permanent plexi-glass and the other side has two plexi-glass doors one of which locks for the FPLA to post information and the other will be unlocked for anyone to post information. The Board is responsible for monitoring the postings for appropriateness and maintenance of the Bulletin Board. Zach has already posted information relating to invasive weeds on one side. The FPLA donated $100 towards the project and received a wonderful thank-you note from Zachary.
The Board is determinng the dates for meetngs and events for 2017 and will be posted by the end of October.
Our most important role is to safeguard the health of our lake. Two programs started in 2009 are the Lake Host Program and Weed Watchers. In 2010 we started water testing as part of the the NH DES Volunteer Lake Assessment Program (VLAP).
The association is governed by a Board of Directors and each area of the lake will have an Area Representative to facilitate communication between the Board and the Membership.
We are only able to continue the programs that have been initiated and expand to more with the support of our membership in terms of dues and volunteer time. Protect the lake – and the value of your property – by becoming a member.
We are pleased to be able to list local businesses that provide services that are important to lake owners and their quests. If your business is interested in a listing the cost is $50 for a business card size listing and for a more descriptive listing the cost is $100. We are also able to provide FPLA member ads for free (non-members would be $20). Please check out the listings we have on our website.
